After witnessing the issues affecting the country, we realized that Cambodia needs our help. The overwhelming poverty, the struggle to keep Cambodian culture alive after the Khmer Rouge almost destroyed it, and the general lack of education are the three main issues that SPEAKcambodia focuses on. With the help of established non-governmental organizations, SPEAKcambodia hopes to provide scholarships for the Khmer youth--both in the arts and in general education--by selling t-shirts, holding fundraisers, and accepting donations. While our goal is to educate Cambodians, we also know it is important to inform Americans about the suffering that occurs all over the world so they, too, can help countries in need.
